Case Study: Why Selling Subscription Services Upfront May Not Always Work (and how to fix it)

Ever hit a wall offering a complete solution your prospect NEEDS but doesn’t WANT?

We just had that happen to a client of mine

here’s why that can happen:

1 – Prospects often want a quick dopamine fix to solve the surface problem fast

2 – they may not be ready to commit to deeper issues upfront, even when those are the real blockers

This is where most deals go sideways:

you’re offering long-term support, but they just want a band aid.

instead of going all-in with a subscription or project, try this:

create what I call an open/closed loop offer.
• focus on a specific, immediate problem they are facing today
• Offer to solve that issue so when they take action (even a small one like signing up to work with you), their mind relaxes and the loop closes
• they’re now in a better headspace to explore deeper, long-term solutions

This way, you build trust and open the door to future conversations about ongoing support.

remember: people often resist because the big problem feels overwhelming.

meet them where they are now, and you’ll unlock the next step.
