“We have to remember that a depression that’s hard to lift didn’t happen overnight… Depression in the sense of what we’re talking about, creeps up on you. So getting out of it is the same thing and that used to frustrate me so bad because when I was in the thick of being depressed, I wanted it over. I want it to be ‘normal’…And the fact that I couldn’t do something to then wake up the next day and everything magically be ‘okay’ made me more depressed. So I had to just exhale and be like, ‘okay, one day at a time, one step at a time’, and it gets better and better. Then what happens and this is the good news, this is the encouraging part, you start to see momentum.”
