LEADING THE FUTURE OF WORK
HOW TO INCREASE YOUR TEAM’S PRODUCTIVITY & PROFIT IN THE REMOTE ECONOMY
ON PRODUCTIVITY
There are 3 facets of an idea:
1 – The communication of an idea
2 – The information related to the idea
3 – The execution of the idea
As a leader it’s your job to shorten the gap between information and action.
By understanding these 3 facets, you’ll be able to align your team’s focus on executing the right ideas at the right time.
We communicate in several channels: Zoom, Slack, Teams, Messenger, text, etc.
To streamline communication: centralize your team’s communications to only 1 or 2 channels.
Next, be on the lookout for ideas and information within communication. And then decide: do we store this for future use or do we use now?
Information is useful only 2 times: right now or later. If the information is not useful, discard it.
Leaders must discern and prune out information that will not serve the company’s purpose.
When storing information: keep it centralized and accessible to the teams that need it. Else you will have needless communication asking “where is this file” and slow the team down.
ON PROFITABILITY
Productivity alone does not equal effectiveness. Productivity aligned with the right actions yields effectiveness (and a business return).
As a leader, focus your energy on identifying and exploiting the opportunities within your company.
When you identify the opportunities, align them with the right ideas and information ready for execution. Then execute and drive change.
Effective leadership consists of orchestrating execution, measuring results and driving growth.
Does it have to be any more complicated than that?
