What Is Your Team’s Velocity?

I’ve had the honor to be working with some amazing teams.

One of the ways I work with teams is through what I call a Sprint: a 6 to 8 week period to implement a strategic solution with the company.

Depending on the team that I’m working with, I can assess the speed of communication and implementation.

This is what I call velocity.

The time it takes to bring an idea to reality.

It is incredibly useful to measure this for several reasons:

  • You can predict how long a new idea will take to be brought to life
  • You can identify opportunities to optimize communications and actions in order to increase velocity

Now, this doesn’t mean that teams can get to the point of implementing at the speed of light (we are not there yet!) but we can create a better environment for our teams and ideas to flourish — and that’s the name of the game:

To do amazing work and enjoy the process.

So what’s your team’s velocity?
